Among the exhibitors at Medical Fair Brasil (MFB) are leading global healthcare technology companies such as Super Genius Aitek, which offers innovative software to measure vital signs quickly, without even touching the person. By using the camera of the laptop, tablet or smartphone, facial recognition technology can detect PPG (photoplethysmography), blood pressure, respiration rate, heart rate and lactic acid level.
“The solution offers complete functionality without the need to use a high-cost camera. People can simply download the software and use it on their cell phones without the need to buy and carry new devices,” explains Steven Su, founder and CEO of Super Genius Aitek.
Founded in 2015, the company is dedicated to the integration of medical imaging and computer vision in different domains. Its activities started with the development of Artificial Intelligence and later the technology was applied in the medical field.
SG AITEK is one of the leading startups in the field of non-contact measurement of vital signs via camera. It is the only one in the world to measure lactic acid without contact, a technique that was published in Nature Scientific Report (2019). The solution has achieved amazing results in the interdisciplinary integration of medical imaging and machine learning, being published also in Biomedical Optics Express (2020). In Taiwan, the method was applied to patient monitoring during surgery.
Differentials
Vital signs values play a crucial role in enabling doctors to perform a rapid assessment of patients’ physical status. These measurements also offer people greater awareness of their body condition. According to Su, traditional measurement methods tend to be time-consuming, which can be problematic in some situations.
Some values require blood tests, increasing the risk of infection. In addition, in some conditions it may be difficult to use traditional methods, such as in the case of patients with an aversion to medical instruments or healthcare professionals, and in the case of young children, as there may not be suitable equipment available for measurement.
“Our software is capable of detecting several vital signs from a simple 6-10 second video, without the need for any physical contact or blood tests. All you need to do is pick up your phone and record the video. In addition, we can take real-time measurements and apply them for continuous patient monitoring,” summarizes Su.
Expectations in Brazil
Super Genius Aitek’s main goal in attending MFB is to expand its presence in the global market. “We want to increase our product visibility and establish connections with potential local partners through this event,” says Su.
He points out that MFB is one of the most important medical fairs in South America, with a notable presence of both local and foreign exhibitors and visitors. “It is an excellent opportunity to meet potential partners and discover new business prospects,” he adds.
Além disso, a empresa acredita que sua solução é extremamente atrativa para o mercado da América Latina. Sua aplicabilidade também abrange o treinamento esportivo, razão pela qual será apresentada a times de futebol.
Regarding strategic partnerships with other companies and institutions in the healthcare field, Su highlights that the company maintains commercial, clinical and university collaborations both in Japan, Europe and the United States. In providing its solution, Super Genius Aitek also receives valuable feedback from its partners, understanding their needs and enabling further discussions to better serve them. This continuous cooperation allows the company to stay at the forefront of innovation, as emphasized by its founder and CEO.
